Description
Painted on location at Vancouver’s VanDusen Botanical Garden, this work captures a quiet summer moment on the garden pond. Tiny lotus leaves scatter across the water, catching sunlight as they drift and shimmer, while a white goose glides effortlessly through the gentle ripples.
As I painted, I focused on the rhythm of the water—how light breaks into fragments, how color shifts with every movement. The shoreline, greenery, and distant figures soften and dissolve into reflection, allowing the surface of the pond to become the true subject of the painting.
Ripples of Tiny Lotus Leaves is a meditation on stillness within motion. It reflects the calm, contemplative atmosphere of VanDusen Botanical Garden, where nature unfolds slowly and quietly, inviting the viewer into a moment of gentle reflection and rest.
